IRIS at ‘ISPE 4.0: AI applications to pharmaceutical processes’

Last 29th January the workgroup of ‘ISPE 4.0: AI applications to pharmaceutical processes’ met at the Almirall’s facilities to present their new contributions to the sector. Alejandro Rosales, Science & Technology Manager and Miguel Romero, Production Manager at IRIS, met the among 20 professionals from pharmaceutical companies and providers to share their opinions in this matter.

This event focused on two real cases of machine learning application to process optimization.

The first study case ‘Can Artificial Intelligence help save costs in my WFI plant?’, in the first stage, is able to explain the seasonality and the events of corrective actions on the plant.

The second study case ‘Can unit operations of a process be modelled to optimize cycle times and reduce energy consumption?’ is aimed to predict the performance of a stage of the production process to reduce cycle times and energy consumption.

ISPE Spain was created with the aim of meeting people from the pharmaceutical and chemical sectors whose work is focused on Industry 4.0 and the implementation of PAT (Process Analytical Technologies) in the laboratory.

It also helps to create a high-level training program in the pharmaceutical industry based on courses, seminars, meetings and visits to plants throughout a solid communication path between professionals of the industry that will generate new synergies both national and international.

Next 30th March and 2nd April the ISPE Group will meet again in Madrid during the ISPE Annual European Conference that will join international professionals to discuss Pharma 4.0.
